How Kampala-Born Creator Ndahirwe Joshua is Professionalizing Digital Media Content in Uganda

In the rapidly evolving landscape of East Africa’s digital economy, a new generation of digital natives is stepping into the spotlight. Among them is Ndahirwe Joshua, known to thousands online by his creator moniker, Josh Kayaye. A resident of Kawempe, a vibrant hub of talent in Kampala, Joshua is quickly earning a reputation as one of Uganda’s youngest and most promising content creators on TikTok.

While many teenagers use social media purely for entertainment, Joshua is approaching the digital space with a distinct entrepreneurial mindset. Building a growing community of over 5,000 followers and accumulating nearly 20,000 likes on his official TikTok channel, his unique blend of highly relatable lifestyle skits, point-of-view (POV) comedy, and cultural commentary is capturing the attention of both local audiences and industry veterans alike.

Professionalizing the Craft at UICT Nakawa                                             Joshua’s dedication to his digital craft recently took a major leap forward. To refine his skills, he enrolled in an intensive professional digital content creation course at the prestigious Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) in Nakawa.

The training program brought together some of the country’s brightest digital minds, providing a rare opportunity for Joshua to learn alongside established industry leaders. His presence at the institute caught the attention of prominent Ugandan public figures and digital influencers.

Following a session at Nakawa, the widely recognized digital personality UGAMAN (@Ugaman01) shared a public endorsement of the rising star online.

“Chilling with Uganda’s youngest content creator on TikTok called Josh Kayaye and fitness coach Ssemaganda of Uganda,” UGAMAN shared with his followers. “Together, we were part of the team doing a course in digital content creation at UICT Nakawa.”

From Kawempe to the Digital World

Representing Kawempe, a neighborhood famous for birthing intense creative energy and resilient talent, Joshua wants to prove that age and location are no barriers to professional digital success. By blending his formal training from UICT with his natural comedic timing, he represents a broader shift in Uganda, where young people are actively transforming mobile phones and content creation into recognized professions.

As visual media continues to dominate how brands and communities connect across East Africa, creators like Ndahirwe Joshua are leading the charge. With a professional certification now under his belt and backing from key figures in the Ugandan digital space, “Josh Kayaye” is a name the entertainment and tech industry should expect to see a lot more of in the coming years.
